a repeat of a painful or ridiculous past. Experiences suc-
ceed in these ways because information is sent by some-
one with confidence, credibility, passion, conviction, or a
highly visible sense of urgency (I’ll have much more to
say about this later).
Fourth, the experiences are rarely, if ever, explained.
They don’t need to be. You don’t find people saying,
“Sarah, I am handing you this document as you walk out
the door to the airport because I know that on the plane
you are much more likely to read it in one sitting, which
will make the new goals much more dramatic and emo-
tionally appealing ...
