Configuring IP Addresses
Before any addresses can be assigned, you must decide what address space to use for the devices in your network and how to allocate that address space. This decision is important—the way in which you assign addresses now may have a serious impact on your network in the future. Answering the following questions helps you determine what address space to use:
Will my network connect to the Internet via an Internet service provider (ISP) or a network service provider (NSP)? If it does, will there be more than one ISP or NSP connection?
Will my network connect directly with another company's network (such as a parent company)?
How many unique LAN and WAN segments will I need in my network?
