Chapter 2. Getting Started with Claude Code
Time to install Claude Code1 and try it on a small project.
First I want you to see what a session looks like when it opens inside a project directory, because that is the basic shape you will use for the rest of the book. Then we will start from an empty folder and let Claude Code create the first version of a new application, a small trainer for memorizing lyrics. You do not need an existing app for it.
Four words come up constantly in this chapter, and people tend to use them interchangeably. The following box shows how this book uses them.
