Chapter 3. Before the Move into the Cloud

Most readers of this book have built web applications deployed in traditional data centers. Now that we have developed a common understanding of what the cloud is and how Amazon implements cloud computing, it’s time to look at the concerns you may have when moving into the cloud.

This chapter covers a broad range of these considerations, and I will only touch lightly on approaches to dealing with them at this point. Each of the chapters that follow dives in deeper to solving some of the challenges raised in this chapter.
