Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations 2010
The Act and the Regulations apply to England and Wales and aim to secure standards regarding: health and safety for people in and around buildings; energy conservation; and the welfare and convenience of disabled people.
The Regulations apply to all new building work and impose duties covering design and construction of buildings, their services, fittings and equipment.
‘Approved documents’ set out the requirements and give practical and technical guidance on compliance with the Regulations.
