Our task in this book is to start a search for clues to the existence of predation outside of the air mode. Without loss of generality, we kick it off by excluding the maritime mode from our inquiry and focus the search on land modes. Even then, the task appears hardly manageable as, excluding known intramodal criminal activities typically carried out to limit or control access within particular land modes (taxis, urban buses, etc.), very few examples of predation, if any, rapidly come to mind.
