Venture capital has existed: The first documented use of the words “venture capital” came in 1920 when an executive from the New York investment bank Morgan Guaranty Trust Company used the term at the 1920 Investment Banking Association conference, according to Martha Louise Reiner. “The enlistment of venture capital is necessary for the development and growth of the country, as well as for the safety of all investment securities,” he argued.
