In the previous chapter, we covered a bit of the conceptual and historical context of the FireMonkey Framework (FMX) and its evolution. In this chapter, we will get our first direct contact with FMX, learning some basic concepts and covering some of its peculiarities using the Visual Component Library (VCL) as a meter of comparison. If you are an experienced Delphi developer (with some understanding of the VCL framework), you'll find this overview useful, where the usual pillars of your development life are translated into their use in the new FMX framework. You'll learn what topics/technological details remain untouched and which ones are different.
