It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Building great software is hard, and Elixir’s not a silver bullet. Though it makes dealing with processes easier, concurrent code will never be easy. If your checklist includes intimidating scalability requirements, performance consistency under load, or highly interactive experiences or the like, programming gets harder still.
