Unidades monetárias do Ether
A unidade monetária do Ethereum é chamada de éter, identificada também como ETH ou com os símbolos Ξ (da letra grega Xi que parece um E maiúsculo estilizado) ou, menos frequentemente, ♦: por exemplo, 1 éter, 1 ETH, Ξ1 ou ♦1.

Use os caracteres Unicode U+039E para Ξ e U+2666 para ♦.
O éter é subdividido em unidades menores, até a menor unidade possível, que é denominada wei. Um éter é 1 quintilhão de wei (1 ×1018, ou 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000). Você também pode ouvir as pessoas se referirem à moeda como "Ethereum", mas esse é um erro comum de iniciantes. Ethereum é o sistema; ether é a moeda.
O valor do ether é sempre representado internamente no Ethereum como um valor inteiro sem sinal denominado em wei. Quando você transaciona 1 ether, a transação codifica 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 wei como o valor.
