I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
This chapter covered a lot of ground. The Project Trailblazer engineers started with their known platforms: the Embedded Planet RPX-CLLF, the Brightstar Engineering MediaEngine, the Tri-M MZ104 x86 single-board computer, and the COTS PC. They developed seven target platform boot requirements, and then they learned about the Linux boot process and developed the target root filesystem. Instead of compiling the root filesystem programs themselves, the engineers decided to use the MontaVista Journeyman product, which contains compiled binaries for all the target platforms.
