Special Theory of Relativity: Relativistic Mechanics

19.1 Introduction

The theory that deals with the relative values to mass, length and time of an object at rest and when it is in motion is called the theory of relativity. The theory of relativity is of two types: (i) special theory of relativity and (ii) general theory of relativity. The special theory of relativity was proposed by Albert Einstein in the year 1905. This theory deals with the mass, length and time of an object(s) or system(s) that move with constant speed with respect to one another or at rest, as well as the general speed up or slowing down with respect to one another.
