So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Patterned fabric can be applied in different ways with Photoshop, depending on the result you are trying to achieve in the illustration.
This first exercise starts with the easiest and most basic way to apply a patterned fabric: by scanning a real one. Besides being a very efficient and realistic solution, another benefit with working this way is that when the fabric is digitized, it can keep its form and the colors can be changed as needed.
