Chapter 6. Plan and configure cloud services
SharePoint Server 2016 is unique among all the other versions of SharePoint, simply because it is firmly rooted in the cloud. Development for what would become the on-premises version of SharePoint Server 2016 has been taking place over the last few years in Office 365, which itself is constantly progressing.
As Office 365 moves ahead, functionality found in the cloud can be expected to start appearing in on-premises environments in the form of software updates. As you work through this chapter, you will note that only a small amount of back-ported (providing older functionality not found in the cloud) content exists in SharePoint 2016.
