Case Study Four: The Digital Gallery
I was the principal academic investigator responsible for developing the digital research gallery at London South Bank University (LSBU). I thought the university should have a digital gallery because, unlike many of the established photography schools, ours had Arts and Media courses that were “born digital.” There were no chemical darkrooms here and no tradition of teaching analog photography. We currently run five undergraduate digitally based programs, of which the B.A. (Hons) Digital Photography is one. Of course, the majority of photography courses now includes digital photography, but as far as I know we are the only exclusively digital photography degree in the United Kingdom.
