Example of feature engineering procedures – can anyone really predict the weather?

Consider a machine learning pipeline that was built to predict the weather. For the sake of simplicity in our introduction chapter, assume that our algorithm takes in atmospheric data directly from sensors and is set up to predict between one of two values, sun or rain. This pipeline is then, clearly, a classification pipeline that can only spit out one of two answers. We will run this algorithm at the beginning of every day. If the algorithm outputs sun and the day is mostly sunny, the algorithm was correct, likewise, if the algorithm predicts rain and the day is mostly rainy, the algorithm was correct.
