It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

2.1 BLOCKCHAIN NETWORKS
Blockchain networks are the foundation of digital assets. As discussed in Section 1.1.2, they are distributed databases that are shared across a network of nodes. The main network of a blockchain is called the mainnet.
We usually refer interchangeably to the blockchain network and the digital asset that is supported by the network natively. Namely, Bitcoin is the name of the blockchain network and the digital asset that is supported by the network. The same convention applies to Ethereum in practice, despite the coin being actually called Ether.
