I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Wrapping Up
The regular tasks of working with strings and files and creating custom comparators got a lot easier and more concise with lambda expressions and method references. Anonymous inner classes morphed into an elegant style and, along the way, mutability disappeared like the fog in the morning sun. As a bonus for favoring this style, we can benefit from the powerful JDK facilities to iterate efficiently over large directories.
Now you know how to create lambda expressions to pass as parameters to methods. In the next chapter we’ll take some of the ideas we saw in this chapter further to almost effortlessly transform data.
