So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Getting ready
In this example, we'll use the JGit repository, so we'll have some history to filter through. The subfolders we split into are not really projects, but serve well as an example for this exercise.
- First, clone the JGit repository and create local branches of the remote ones using the following command:
$ git clone https://git.eclipse.org/r/jgit/jgit Cloning into 'jgit'... remote: Counting objects: 98, doneremote: Total 95247 (delta 0), reused 95247 (delta 0)Receiving objects: 100% (95247/95247), 41.25 MiB | 1.91 MiB/s, done.Resolving deltas: 100% (41334/41334), done. $ cd jgit $ git checkout master Already on 'master' Your branch is up-to-date with 'origin/master'.
