Chapter 4 introduced you to Google Base, a vast repository of knowledge with several different categories for all kinds of data. It's easy to get lost in this huge repository of information, and it could get a little frustrating if you're shopping for a certain item. Think of heading out for a light bulb and ending up in the Wal-Mart the size of North America. That's why Google narrowed down the search a bit and gave the shoppers more options with Google Product Search. Although Base can hold all kinds of different information, Product Search focuses specifically on goods for sale.

Google Product Search is a combination of the Mall of America and a DIY flea market where everybody is invited to set up a booth and sell his wares. Instead of wandering through booth upon booth, however, you can go directly to what you want by using a quick product search and clicking a few times. Just go to http://google.com/products to view the screen shown in Figure 5-1.
