It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In earlier chapters, we talked about various use cases that can be applied in the banking, retail, or telecom industry. In this chapter, we are going to learn how Hadoop and big data technologies can be helpful in the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a network of connected devices that are useful in day-to-day life, such as physical devices, hand held items, wearable gadgets, electronic items, and so on. The concept of the IoT encourages such devices to be connected with each other all the time and to exchange data. Auto-driven cars, intelligent energy meters, and smart electronic gadgets are no longer a dream. Most companies now have their products built with integrated IoT smartness.
