Hadoop is designed to be highly scalable, distributed, massively parallel processing, fault tolerant and flexible and the key aspect of the design are HDFS, MapReduce and YARN. HDFS and MapReduce can perform very large scale batch processing at a much faster rate. Due to contributions from various organizations and institutions Hadoop architecture has undergone a lot of improvements, and one of them is YARN.
