Chapter 5. Creating Web Images
There are many, many different tools that you can use to create and save images for the Web. It was hard deciding whether to try to give general instructions that really wouldn’t fit any actual piece of software, or focus on one program that most but probably not all of my readers would have. In the end, I opted for two related programs: the industry standard, Adobe Photoshop ($600), and its less expensive cousin, Photoshop Elements ($100). Most of the techniques in this chapter can be executed with either program; a very few noted exceptions work only in Photoshop. Both are available for Macintosh and Windows.
