INSTALL A MOVIE ENCODER
If you already own the rights to post a movie file online, or at least the inclination, it is quite likely that its audio and video will need to be changed into a format that is more appropriate for HTML5 web browsers. This process, called reencoding, involves a software program that is capable of decoding — or more simply, playing — the existing audio and video streams and then encoding the playback into a new format.
There are dozens if not hundreds of free programs available online that can do this. One program that is particularly user-friendly is called the Miro Video Converter, produced by the same developers who wrote Miro (www.getmiro.com), an open-sourced music and video player.
