We commonly and routinely call the era that we live in the 21st century. However, it deserves better recognition than being simply one of the century marks. The year 2001 also marks the beginning of the 3rd Millennium. Based on the technological advances in computing, it may be more dramatic and accurate to refer to us as residing in the 3rd Millennium.

In all previous millennia, humans have been constrained to living within our physical space or universe. In fact, we have been constrained to living on our physical planet.
