CHAPTER 9Living the Transhuman Life

Beyond the initial scope of attacks where intended to use these chips, I started to see other opportunities for legitimate uses of my embedded tech. I saw ways that implanted tools could enhance my everyday life. I could use them to help protect myself, my digital identity, and the services I use online. I could incorporate them into my smart-house system and even use them to perform payment transactions. Implants were for more than wreaking havoc—that's just where the fun was.

VivoKey Chips

The VivoKey chips are used not as offensive tools but as defensive ones. The scope of capabilities for transhumans is limited only by the imagination and the current technology stack.

VivoKey Spark 2

The VivoKey Spark 2 was one of the first implants I had installed. I selected this chip for its ability to act as an authentication tool that would provide a true multifactor authentication, not just two factors. This forced the use of the registered implant with the associated app on a registered mobile device and the password for the site in question. This is something you have (VivoKey app on mobile), something you know (the current password for the site), and something you are (access to the implanted microchip). The infrastructure was set up to allow access to authenticate web apps through the industry-standard authentication flow of mutual authentication (MAU).
