System-Based Lean Implementation Approach Utilizing the BASICS Model—Kaikaku

To perform a larger transformational Lean initiative, also defined as a system kaizen, we have outlined a model that can be used as a guide when applying Lean concepts and tools. There are six phases that follow the simple acronym BASICS. Each letter represents the main theme for the activities that occur in its phase: Baseline, Assess, Suggest solutions, Improve, Check results, and Sustain.
