Appendix C. Downloading and Installing the JCE

This appendix shows how to download and install version 1.2 of the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE).

Downloading the JCE

The JCE is a standard extension API that provides a base implementation of several cryptographic algorithms, including DES. It is available from Sun for download to users in the United States and Canada. If you do not reside in the U.S. or Canada, you can download and install the Cryptix version of the JCE 1.2. Refer to Appendix E,"Downloading and Installing the Cryptix JCE 1.2."

To download the JCE 1.2, go to Sun's Web site at http://www.javasoft.com/products/jce/index.html. You'll be prompted with selection lists for downloading the JCE 1.2 software and documentation or the JCE ...
