This appendix shows how to download and install version 3.1 of the Cryptix JCE replacement.

Downloading the Cryptix 3.1

Because it is against U.S. export control laws to export the JCE outside of the U.S. or Canada, only users in these countries will be able to take advantage of Sun's JCE. However, there is a viable international JCE alternative that is provided by Cryptix, an international volunteer organization that provides open-source cryptographic software libraries. In fact, the Cryptix libraries provide additional cryptographic algorithms that are not found in the JCE 1.2, such as RSA and PGP.
