Technical Details

The Model and Alias Matrices

The Model Matrix represents the coded settings for the effects that you include in your model. The Model Matrix is used in defining the following:

• Optimality and efficiency measures. See “Optimality Criteria” in the “Custom Designs” chapter and “D-Efficiency” in the “Custom Designs” chapter.

• Power calculations. See “Power Calculations” in the “Evaluate Designs” chapter.

• Relative prediction variance. See “Relative Prediction Variance” in the “Evaluate Designs” chapter.

This appendix shows how the Model Matrix is defined and presents two ways to view this matrix.
