B. Getting Started

This appendix describes how to get started with the TSP. As shown in Figure B.1, it describes the first steps needed to introduce the TSP and to motivate your knowledge-working teams to consistently follow the TSP process. Experience shows that they will then produce quality products on their planned schedules and for their committed costs. Once you have followed the guidelines in this appendix and have established a firm foundation of TSP experience, Appendix C shows you how to expand that capability across the organization, and Appendices D and E describe how you and your management team can use the TSP to manage and continually improve your organization.
