It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

React is a JavaScript library for building efficient and extensible web applications. React is developed by Facebook and is used in many large-scale web applications, such as Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and WhatsApp Web.
React Hooks were introduced in the React 16.8 release and solve many common problems with React projects. Hooks make components less complex, more concise, and easier to read and refactor.
