Packetbeat is a real-time network packet analyzer that works by capturing the network traffic between the application servers, decoding the application layer protocols (HTTP, MySQL, Redis, Memcache, and many more), correlating the requests with the responses, and recording the interesting fields for each transaction. Packetbeat sniffs the traffic between the servers, parses the application-level protocols on the fly, and converts the messages into transactions. It can help one to easily notice issues with the backend application, such as bugs or performance problems, and it makes troubleshooting them easy.
