When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Prerequisites
Java runtime is required to run Logstash. Logstash requires Java 8. Make sure JAVA_HOME is set as an environment variable, and to check your Java version, run the following command:
java -version
You should see the following output:
java version "1.8.0_65" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_65-b17) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.65-b01, mixed mode)
For Java, you can use the official Oracle distribution (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html), or an open source distribution such as OpenJDK (http://openjdk.java.net/).
