About the Author

Jack Widman started his professional life as a mathematician in academia. He studied and taught the intricacies of the mathematical theory of pseudo-compact topological groups, as well as teaching calculus and discrete math courses. At the suggestion of some friends, he decided to try out programming and see if it resonated with him. It is now 24 years later, and Jack has been designing and writing code ever since. With a PhD in mathematics and 24 years of software industry experience, Jack conceived of the idea to write a book on functional programming, a subject with deep mathematical roots, and this book you have in your hands is the result. In his spare time, Jack enjoys reading, writing, and learning all about cybersecurity.
