This chapter is a collection of basic troubleshooting steps, as well as looking at some of the issues I came across while writing this book.

Basic Troubleshooting Techniques

Pinging

Ping is a great way to confirm basic connectivity. The gotcha is that when pinging, we must specify the VPN to use:
vManage01# ping 100.1.1.3 ?
Possible completions:
  count      Number of ping packets
  fragment   do(prohibit fragmentation, even local one),         dont(do not set DF flag)
  rapid      Rapid ping
  size       Size of packets, in bytes
  source     Source interface or IP address
  vpn        VPN ID
  wait       Time ...
