The gun is at rest and ready to be “red.”

Pulling the Trigger pushes the trigger lever

against the Slide Mechanism so that the

whole Slide is pushed back.

The trigger lever continues to rotate until

it’s lower than the Slide Mechanism. This

is as far back as the Slide goes.

Now the Slide moves forward again, even

though the Trigger is still fully depressed.

(In this illustration, the safety catch seems

to be ontop of the Trigger, but in reality,

there’s a gap between the two that can’t be

shown in a 2D drawing.)
