I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Introduction
A few years ago, an entire lifetime ago, I sat at my desk, staring at the flickering cursor on the screen, trying to write. I had left midway through a PhD program in neuroscience to become a novelist, and I was stuck on the fifth draft of the great novel inside my head. It was the worst day of my life as a writer.
Curiously, it was also the first day of my journey to become an artist. But I did not know it then. Grabbing a pen and notebook, I went out for a walk. I was angry at the words that would not come, and I was afraid of never finding them again. Writing a good story needs you to be completely naked in front of countless strangers.
