So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Choosing the right plot
Having introduced so many plot types in previous chapters, it would be great for us to have a quick summary here. The choice of plot types should be primarily based on data type, followed by the target usage of the plots:
- Are we trying to compare and contrast different groups of data?
- Are we trying to show the relationship between groups?
- Are we trying to show the distribution of data?
- Are we trying to show the ratio or composition of groups?
Finally, we need to understand the advantages and limitations of different plot types in order to make the right decision. We have summarized the major considerations of choosing plot types in this table:
