So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Creating Plans
The management reports in chapters 8 and 9 contained columns for plans, YTD results, and forecasts. In this chapter and the next we explore where these numbers come from. Of course, plans, YTD results, and forecasts may be used independently of the three management reports, and the discussion in this chapter will prepare you for that as well. Scorecards and dashboards may also include YTD values for measures, but they typically do not contain plans or forecasts. While you can create a measurement and reporting strategy without the information in this chapter, you will not be able to implement it, generate reports, or use them without knowing how to create plans, report results, and make forecasts.
