So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Wer kann sich heute noch vorstellen, wie (mühsam) man vor gerade mal 50 Jahren gerechnet hat? Mit dem Aufkommen der Elektronenrechner in den 1970er Jahren kam fast schlagartig eine über 300 Jahre alte Entwicklung von Rechengeräten – (analoge) Rechenschieber und (digitale) mechanische Rechenmaschinen – zum Stillstand. Im 19. und vor allem im 20 Jahrhundert wurde in der Schweiz eine Fülle mechanischer Rechenhilfsmittel gebaut, die meisten sind längst untergegangen. Und auch in Liechtenstein kam eine berühmte „Rechenmühle“ zur Welt, die Curta.
Aufwendige Berechnungen wurden noch vor wenigen Jahrzehnten in Rechensälen oder Rechenfabriken mit mechanischen Tischrechenmaschinen durchgeführt. Weit ...
