This chapter presents the results of the analysis of two brief dialogues, one of them constructed, and the other a fictitious conversation, in this case a joke.
The text on which this study has been done has been slightly adapted from a constructed example briefly discussed by Radden (2000: 94–95), by adding two fictional speakers (John and Mary):82
