Afterword
This is the seventh edition of this book. When Mike Alexander and I originally wrote a book dedicated to pivot tables back in 2005, it quickly shot up the charts. (The first edition of the book was the number-one best-selling computer book on Amazon.com, for one hour, at four in the morning, on a cold January morning.)
I almost chose not to update this book. Using my Windows edition of Excel, it seemed like there was not that much that was new. At this point, I am glad I took the time to freshen the book with new screenshots. Along the way, I discovered that pivot tables in Excel Online had come a long way and that a new scripting language is available to create those pivot tables in Excel Online.
