At the very beginning of this book, back in Chapter 1, we introduced you to the concept of cloud computing. We began by describing the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) acronyms. We also explained that Microsoft Azure SQL Database in particular, is delivered as a platform—that is, it is a PaaS offering. With each successive chapter, you then explored different focus areas of the SQL Database platform.
