When developing an SSIS Project in SQL Server 2012, you can use either the Package Deployment Model or the Project Deployment Model. The Project Deployment Model determines the set of SSIS features that you can use when working with SSIS projects. The Project Deployment Model is the default deployment model when a new Integration Services project is created. When you upgrade from an existing SSIS project, the project will use the Package Deployment Model. Using SQL Server Data Tools, you can convert from the Package Deployment Model to the Project Deployment Model (or vice versa).
