This chapter covers Microsoft SharePoint workflows from a developer perspective, discussing how to create real workflows using either SharePoint Designer 2013 or Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. As you learned in Chapter 16 SharePoint Designer 2013 is a powerful authoring tool for workflows. Whenever you need to create real workflow solutions, consider SharePoint Designer 2013 first. If it does not satisfy your functional requirements, then consider using Visual Studio 2012 instead.
