Viewing the Network and Sharing Center

The Network and Sharing Center (New!) provides a central location where you can view and modify network and sharing options for the computer connected to a network. From a network perspective, you can view a map of the network, view network connection status information, change the network location type (either Public or Private: Work or Home), and specify whether you want others on the network to see you, known as network discovery. When you connect to a network for the first time, Windows automatically detect it and asks you to choose a network location.
