One of the most exciting parts of playing Minecraft is your ability to power up weapons, tools, armor, and even yourself. This chapter explores the complex but rewarding side of enchantments, brewing, and beacons.

Many of the items in this chapter can be achieved only after a player has collected resources in the Nether (see Chapter 11) and has earned a significant number of experience points (the little green bar above your inventory, earned by progressing through the game, killing mobs, collecting orbs, and other things). Alternatively, many players may find items already enchanted in chests, dungeons, or other structures (as shown in Chapter 7) or even find potions dropped from a witch, but cannot gain other powers until overcoming many obstacles in the game (like building a beacon). But don’t get discouraged: After you have gathered all necessary resources, you will likely find enchantments and brewing to be rewarding experiences in Minecraft.
