Minecraft not only produces natural landscapes that look different every time you play, but it also spawns structures such as bustling villages, treasure-filled pyramids, or dangerous dungeons. This chapter helps you find and benefit from these structures and communities to enhance your experience.

Trading in Villages

A village is a group of structures — such as hovels, smithies, churches, and roads — arranged as a community for its residents, as shown in Figure 7-1. A village can appear in a plain, a savanna, or a desert, and its inhabitants are quite helpful to you. Villages spawn naturally in the world, and most people find them throughout the game.
