8.1 Digital Modulations in Rayleigh Fading With STBC

This chapter introduces several topics in Simulink using space–time block coding (STBC) for compensating for BER degradation due to channel fading. Specifically these topics include the following:

  • BPSK in Rayleigh fading with STBC
  • QAM in Rayleigh fading with STBC

8.2 BPSK BER in Rayleigh Fading with STBC

Appendix 8.A presents an overview of Alamouti STBC for two transmit antennas and one receive antenna. The formulation can be generalized to N transmit antennas and M receive antennas as implemented in Matlabs's Communication System Toolbox. Figures 8.1 and 8.2 show a Simulink model for estimating the BPSK BER performance in Rayleigh fading with two transmit antennas and one receive antenna using Alamouti STBC.
